Who Is Todd Zaionz?
Todd Zaionz’s journey into the world of construction was inspired by his desire to spend more time with his family.
Born in Longbeach, CA in 1969 and growing up in Orange County, Todd grew up with many influences around him that inspired him to explore opportunities outside his hometown.
After high school, In 1988, Todd began working for a home repair company that specialized in termite and wood damage repair. It was there he learned the basics of carpentry and some of the general principles of construction and sales. He worked with the company for four years after earning his state inspector’s license.
College, Japan, and Business
Later, Todd committed to attend college to pursue a degree in business accounting. Starting at Mira Costa College for two years, Todd received a full scholarship to attend UC Berkeley where he continued his studies in accounting, business, and Japanese History and Japanese language. Todd also spent a year studying abroad in Tokyo where he was immersed in Japanese language and culture and worked part-time for a Consulting company. During his study abroad in Japan, Todd found his skills in the Japanese language and understanding of Japanese culture to his advantage; he quickly found himself working for Beacon Communications in Japan as a strategic consultant and international coordinator. After graduating from UC Berkeley, Todd received an offer to work full-time in Tokyo, where he worked until the year 2000 when he had a new chapter unfolding.
A New Family
Todd came back to the United States to marry his college girlfriend, Gloria, a fellow UC Berkeley grad. Proposing in Hawaii in 1999, the couple excitedly announced that they would be getting married and starting their lives together. During his final days at Bcon Communications in Tokyo, Todd was recruited to work in public accounting at Arthur Anderson in January of 2000. He later switched to Rothstein, Kass & Company in late 2001. By mid-2003, Todd decided to leave accounting and return to construction and spend more time with his family.
Construction
With this goal in mind, Todd decided to come back to the world of construction, which allowed him a better work-life balance for his family. In 2003, Todd went to work for a window and bathroom contractor by the name of The Clear Choice. He worked there until early 2006, before moving to another company called K&R Construction. Todd worked on commercial and residential remodels with the company and met Amos, his supervisor. Amos acted as a mentor and friend and eventually helped Todd earn his general contractor license and venture out on his own.
Amos were Todd became friends through working together and eventually broke off to revive Amos’s company AAWoody Construction. Todd began working alongside them as a partner, taking on jobs and helping manage and consult on different bids and work that the company took on. In return, Amos assisted Todd by providing him advice on his work quality and business practices, allowing him to set up his own company and get his general contractor’s license.
In 2009, Todd Zaionz Construction was born, and Todd found himself taking jobs all over the San Francisco Bay Area. Whether residential or commercial, Todd was happy to take on new challenges and learn from his experiences. He eventually began working on projects with groups like Victory Outreach, providing several men with skills that would allow them to make an honest living and build their own businesses for the future. Todd Zaionz Construction was eventually renamed to DPC Construction in 2024, and Todd continues running the company today.
